New Zealand Coast to Coast Venture (NZC2C)

New Zealand Coast to Coast Venture

Crossing the Southern Alps of NZ, the rugged wilderness that defines the meeting of the Pacific and Indian tectonic plates, this physically demanding expedition will start at the edge of the Tasman Sea and over  8 days traverse New Zealand’s South Island to the Pacific Ocean.

Activities and Risk

Modeled after the iconic Coast to Coast race, this expedition utilizes backpacking, mountain biking and whitewater rafting through a range of different environments unique to New Zealand. Not for the faint hearted, long days of focused effort are required to move a team across the country. Leadership, teamwork, endurance and daring are all mandatory items on the gear list.

The trip requires a moderate level of physical conditioning.  Venture Fellows will consult with participants about required training programs.

Cost, Equipment, and Lodging

The land costs of the venture include accommodations and meals during the time of the expedition. Participants are responsible for paying for and arranging their flights, extra days for hotel accommodations and gear. A full gear list will be provided to participants.
