WEMBA Maritime Intensive

WEMBA Maritime Intensive

Through a mix of classroom and action learning, participants will gain insight into how their decisions impact others.  What we often find in our fast-paced culture is that we are driven to make quick decisions because the situation may call for it.  However, we fail to realize the impact of those decisions. Vinny Ginda, FBI hostage negotiator, will present a model and a method on how to increase a person’s level of success during any decision-making process.

Participants will then practice this method and develop their skills through a navigation challenge designed by Kat Smithhammer of Leadership at Play.  This outdoor orienteering course experience replicates challenges that teams face anywhere: making expedient decisions, balancing task achievement with group development, blending distinct individuals to form a cohesive team, and working through unforeseen hurdles.

Activities

On this intensive, we place participants in individual and team-based leadership scenarios. There is outdoor orienteering and there are normal physical risks associated with this venture such as aches and soreness.

Training

No pre-trip conditioning is needed.  There is moderate rigor during this intensive.

The cost of the intensive is $200 and includes transportation to and from Wharton San Francisco and the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA as well as meals.
